Their team suffers from a huge lack of coherent direction, and by that I mean working on projects that have a similar time frame of completion. It doesn't speak well they can't seem to hammer down the most important aspects of the game, you know?ĭefinitely agree here. The developers themselves have said they have had to rebuild concepts several times. Their biomes still feel empty and just lackluster. Originally posted by Xander:Starbound still vastly lacks compared with how unfullfiling and empty it feels and how clunky combat is. How is it even fair honestly comparing these two games at this point?
Terraria vs starbound full#
One side has 100% content plus a ton and the other side not only doesn't have full content but a large portion of that content is ostensibly a placeholder. It doesn't really make sense to compare them just yet because one side is obviously and undeniably better at this point. To the OP if you are a real person, terraria is a great finished game and starbound is a decent game with a lot of potential that still has a copious amount of work left. Anyone that bought this game in EA doesn't really have a legitimite complaint for the lengthy updates or game changes as that is a risk you automatically agree to when you purchase a game in EA. I mean kickstarter guys, not a safe or reliable investment in any shape or form. If you back a kickstarted company or game there is a substantial possibility that it may not go exactly according to plan. Yes Starbound screwed up in the beginning, that is a fact(although no current screw-ups from what I have seen) and the people who bought into the kickstarter are taking this one all the way to their graves. It also prevents the same antiquated complaints from being written by the same 10 people over and over.Or maybe that is all part of the plan hmmm? With this incredible feature you don't have to waste your own or other peoples time and energy rereading/answering a question that is asked on a daily basis. For anyone unaware, I'm going to drop a bomb, it is possible to search the forums for past posts(I know, amazing huh). Searching the forums is always a possibility that is very useful and I think tragically underutilized. Gotta love it, especially when the OP has a private, level 0 steam account and has more than likely posted the exact same question multiple times before while possibly using a few different words. Oh the lovely regurgitated terraria vs starbound troll post. And you can't compare a bowl of cake mix to a cake. There is really nothing in the game I would consider final. Even in its EA stage is had always had a much grander scope and that shows. They are more than just some polish or customer support, they really are what happens when a solid game develops a large fan base that sticks around and justifies the extra effort. But the fact is, Terraria was always sold as a finished product, and the updates are the icing on the cake.

The updates added to the core, balanced the pacing, added new concent and overall made the game much bigger (and arguably better). When it was first released there was a solid core the game was for all intents and purposes complete. Terraria started "smaller", but as a full game. To make a fair comparison one would have to wait until Starbound is finished and at least out of Early Acess. Starbound started in 2011 acording to GeorgeV a developer, and was ment to be done by summer 2012 acording to Tiyuri in a interview. Terraria was put together in six months in 2011, and has updated since but those are updates. Starbound: the sprite are great and it controls pretty well so when you spawn you in your racist ship and you get your equipment from your ships S.A.I.L or something and then you teleport to the planet below with your weapons and a matter manipulater and find a place to stay with a warm bed and some place to store all your junk and find some gear to help repair ship and get to the outpost 9/10 because early access Terraria: its art design is visually appealing and it controls very nicely and theres good customization (although i can bearly see my eye color) when you start nad your world loads you spawn with a sword a axe and a pic and you mkae a house make a house some armor and a few weapons and set out with a nice pair of goggles but its a slow start and those are my worst enemy but then i kicks into the fun bits with the bosses and the events goblins and eyes and other good stuff with giant skeletons flying around and all the stuff that want your insides on the out over all pretty fun buut the goblin invasion are a bit annoying so my rating is 9/10 (those dam goblin INVASIONS!!!!!)
